Malaysian Food: Mamak Stall & Nasi Kandar

Malaysia is a multi ethnic country. Each of the ethnic having their very own eating habit. One of the culture is mamak stall.

I still remember during my college time 10 years back, I was staying at Kuala Lumpur. It was so common that every college-mate or housemate visit for any mamak stall when the time reach 8pm. Mamak stall located in many of the areas, including the roadside, around the hostel, and so.

We enjoyed a lot with the foods, especially Maggie Mee Goreng, Roti Pisang, Roti Kosong, and Teh Tarik. There were all "trademark" for mamak stall. One of the style that I couldn't forget is Roti Goreng, which is Fried Roti Kosong. The taste was so special and tasty, can say its taste like Char Koay Teow. However, I can't find one in the Northern Malaysia. Maybe I was seldom visit any mamak stall again after my college time.

In the Northern Malaysia, I found that most of the people visiting mamak stall, the main reason is going for their Nasi Kandar and no longer similar to Kuala Lumpur style. I'm not sure is it different currently or it is still the same lifestyle over there.

This is the mamak stall nearby my housing area. Though I'm not visit it frequenty, but at least it is good when I feel hungry at night. Most of the time, chinese restaurant closed earlier and mamak stall is mainly operate at night.

Let's see what was I taken, a Roti Kosong (Roti Canai) and Mee Goreng (Fried Mee). The taste was not surprisingly actually, but I was enjoyed the chilled environment outside there.

Is our day affected by the things happen around us?

There's a couple who were married for over 30 years, both are at the age of 60s. One day, the old man make a wish to an angel: I wish I could have a wife, who is 30 years younger than me. Angel answer: You wish had came true!

Suddenly a loud voice, and the old man became a 90 year old man. Yes, his dream came true, now his 60 year old wife is 30 years younger than him!

This is just a funny story, which bring us some thought: What direction we go are determined by our mindset.

Some of the people around me, struggling for a living most of the years since they are graduated. It may be 10 years, 20 years and more, but they are still hopping for a job. Though they had already experienced from many kind of jobs, and met so many people, they could actually been trained to be a better person. At least, they can no longer suffer in looking for a job all the while, nor worried for a basic expenses. But yet, they are still go around in the circle.

What is the main reason for this? Why they are still struggle for their living?

There are actually many reasons, and some of it is helpless, we couldn't do much on it. But, for the main reason, it could be due to their mindset.

What should we do in order to create a good thinking?

Below are some of the criteria, which can probably lead us to become a better thinking person:

1. Guard our eyes: Every day we looking at everything and everyone around us, all the things passing by us, it is beyond our control to select for anything before it goes into our eyes. However, some of the things are still under control, which may cause us immoral, or thinking bad if we insist to looking at.

For example: A lady shirt is not covered nicely because of her motion, we can choose to move away our eye sight, or just stare at her quietly and thinking something bad.

So: Eyes can affect our thinking

2. Guard your ears: Listen to the positive message and be together with positive thinking friends.

For example: Jason just failed his exam paper, it ruins his days. During the lunch gathering with Michelle, she comfort and cheers him up, she encourage him to take up another paper after more preparation. Jason feels well and have more motivation now.

So: Ears can affect your day

3. Guard your lifestyle: Adjust your style of living, live in the day which fill with joy and hope, rather than live in the situation full of blame or disappointment.

For example: Sharon grown up in a single parent family, all the while she's lack of confident. She felt that her friends was not like her, and hence it had affected her school's result. With this poor result, she couldn't get a job that she wishes to. Everyday Sharon having a bad emotion and always recall back her old days.

So: Lifestyle may influence your future

Most of  the time, we have to appreciate if there's parents staying with us. They may tell us their experiences in life, share with us the joyful days, and we have the chance to rely on each others.

Try to thanks for everything which is happen to us, and think it deeply, what can we learn from this occurrence.

Do you have any experiences, that something had influence your day and your decision? Why not share it to me?

Why we afraid for a change? Is change a good or bad thing?

I was driving on the road, and took a U-turn at the traffic light, it is a junction near to my house. I remembered my husband told me, last time, this road had never exist. And the corner towards the school was only a bush over 10 years back. At that time, there was only one way to go into this residential area, and it was not more than 20 houses.

It's hardly to believe that, today, this area had become a significant area in the city. It gathers activities such as industrial, entertainment, residential and commercial into its palm. We could never imagine, what did it looks like in 20 years back?

How do you think about CHANGE? You are the one who welcome or against change?

Some of the people afraid for a change, it's very difficult for them to adapt into new things, for example: new job, new friends, new environment, and the worst is, some may even dislike a new song!

Let me give you some more clear pictures:

1. Peter just completed his internship with company A. He is going to join a new job with another company. He feels frustrated and nervous because he don't know what will be going on. He may be given a new work target, or maybe couldn't going well with new colleagues. All uncertainty popping in his mind.

A Valentine Dinner at Sushi Queen @ Aeon Bandar Perda

14th February 2014 is a special day, especially for Chinese. Why? Because it's only happen every 19 years! What is that? For Western, it's Valentine, in the traditional Chinese calendar, it's Chap Goh Mei.

It's named Chap Goh Mei or Lantern Festival is because it is the fifteenth days in January (Chinese calendar). The Lantern Festival is a festival celebrated on the fifteenth day of the first month in the lunisolar year in the lunar calendar marking the last day of the lunar New Year celebration.
Which means both of the Western & Chinese Valentine in a same day!

This is the second year of our marriage, so we are not follow those youngsters footstep for a grand celebration. But, as per promised, we will going for a dinner in every special occasion.

As usual, I'm the one who suggest a restaurant. We drove and round on the road, passed by a few shopping mall, still not knowing where should we go. Finally, a Japanese restaurant pop-up from my mind, thus we decided to make a reverse and go back to the first location we had just came from.

Sushi Queen at Aeon Bandar Perda.

Those sushi were prepared to serve on a conveyor belt. But unfortunately, there were not much option. We can found that most of the sushi and food were repeated on the conveyor belt, and also, most of that were carton-pack beverage. I was quite disappointed if compare the condition of Sushi Tei, Sushi King and Sakae Sushi.
